Permanent resident application is sometimes a challenging task. There are at times an applicant thinks that the application is very simple process mainly due to a lot of forums or blogs available to guide you. It is though a good habit to see blogs but, always trust the source and that is Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Government of Canada website. Always remember that forums and blogs are just those people who are like you looking for knowledge or having half knowledge or pretending to be expert. Everyone situation or case is different.

Express entry is an online system where you will get my guidance and professional service in assessing your eligibility to meet the Minimum Eligibility Criteria, profile creation, submitting your Permanent Residency Federal application. You may be also eligible for one of the Canadian Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This program is for workers who: have the skills, education and work experience specific province or territory, want to live in that province, and want to become permanent residents of Canada. Each province and territory have its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. We can apply either using the paper-based process, or by the online process through Express Entry. The first step for you in order to immigrate to Canada is to get your education qualification assessed by one of the IRCC designated credential assessment agency and provide your Language ability test score (General Test) only required for Immigrate to Canada.

As part of the process, you will have to pass a medical exam and get a police check (certificate). Everyone must have these checks, no matter where they plan to live in Canada accompanying or even non-accompanying dependents in your application.

Paper-based process: We apply to the province or territory for nomination under a non-Express Entry stream. You need to meet the eligibility requirements of the province that nominates you. Once you have been nominated, we submit a paper application for permanent residence to IRCC. You have to pass a medical exam and get a police check (certificate). Application processing times are longer than through Express Entry.

Express Entry process

Through the online Express Entry process in two ways. We contact the province or territory and apply for a nomination under an Express Entry stream. If the province or territory agrees to nominate you, you create an Express Entry profile (or update your profile if you already have one) and show you have been nominated. OR

We create an Express Entry profile and show the provinces and territories you’re interested in as the step 1 to Immigrate to Canada

If a province or territory sends you a “notification of interest” to your Representative’s account (RCIC). We apply to the provincial Express Entry stream.  If you’re nominated, the province will offer to apply online. You must meet the eligibility requirements of the province or territory. And, we must submit an Express Entry profile and show that you meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry, including being eligible for one of the immigration programs it covers. If you are invited to apply, we submit an electronic application to IRCC.

Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSW)
This program allows immigration to those who can immigrate, contribute to Canada’s economy and become established with their families. Prospective applicants often have a certain specialty that requires a university or college degree. The program is run through the Express Entry system and has its own criteria for eligibility. Some of those criteria are:
Age: Majority age is 18. Ideal age is 22 – 35
Education: Secondary is the minimum, but, ideal is Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree with one or two years of University earned diploma
Years of experience: Min. 1 year but, ideal number is 3 or more years (Full time and paid)
Language: Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher but, ideal is (CLB) 9 which is IELTS GT band of Listening 8 and Reading, Writing and Speaking of 7 bands or higher. CELPIP (G) requires 9 score in each module to attain the CLB9.
Job offer: Not mandatory, but helps to increase the score from 50 – 200. The Job offer must be supported by a Positive LMIA. 50 points for professional jobs of skill type 0, A or B. 200 for Skill type 00 level occupations
Adaptability: Previous work in Canada at least 1 year or Previous education in Canada atleast 1 year full time study or Blood relatives in Canada who are your brother or sister to claim points under Express Entry in order to Immigrate to Canada.

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)
The Federal Skilled Trades program allows those who have a certified trade to immigrate to Canada, provided they fulfill a certain number of criteria. It is also run through the Express Entry system. Some of the eligibility criteria is as follows:
Plan to live outside of Quebec.
Language proficiency in English or French
Speaking and Listening – CLB5
Reading and Writing – CLB4
At least 2 years of full-time work experience (min. 30 hrs./week) in the last 5 years before you apply.
Meet the job requirements for that position (NOC), except for needing a certificate of qualification AND
Either have a full-time employment offer for min. 1 year
Or, have a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you have worked in Canada for 1 year as a Skilled Worker or 2 years as a Skilled Tradesman, you can be eligible to apply for a permanent residency status in Canada to immigrate. The program is run by the Express Entry system and requires you to fulfill the following criteria.
Experience: At least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada in the last 3 years before you apply
Type of Work: Either full-time or equal amount in part-time not more than 30 hours per week is counted towards your Canadian experience.
Language proficiency for NOC 0 or A: Min. CLB 7 and NOC B: Min. CLB 5. Good for International students studied in Canada and working on Post Graduate work permit to qualify for CEC class.
ICT work permit holders if having Offer of employment from their Canadian employer can get 50 additional points depending upon the Skill Type. Note* NOC 0213 does not get you 200 points as it is not Skill Type 00.

Good for International students who have at least graduate degree from their home country with 1 or 2 years of Canadian study and 3 plus years of foreign work experience. Consult our RCIC who has filed many International students who have become eligible to apply for PR.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot
This program is a partnership between the government of Canada and the 4 Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island)

The employer goes through 3 main stages:

1. Employer Designation: Each employer wishing to benefit from this program must communicate with the Provincial Immigration Office in their respective province and complete the process of designation. Once they are a designated employer, they can advertise, and hire newcomers in the job categories they require.
2. Recruiting: The employer then communicates with their recruit via a participating settlement service provider organization. The candidate will work with the settlement service provider organization to provide a settlement plan after the needs assessment. That plan is sent back to the employer who completes the endorsement of the province.
3. PR Application: The candidate then completes their permanent residency application in order to Immigrate to Canada. Approved candidates will come to Atlantic Canada and the employer will support their settlement and integration plan.

Attention Caregivers!

As a caregiver, you have options to immigrate to Canada to become a permanent resident or work temporarily.

Permanent residence for caregivers:

Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot is a newly introduced program for Caregivers

As of June 18, 2019, you may be able to apply for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot if you: meet the eligibility requirements, and have a job offer to work in one of these occupations

Through these pilots, you’ll get an open work permit to come to Canada and work temporarily. The good part of this work permit is that its occupation-restricted (so you have to work in that specific occupation), doesn’t need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), lets you get the work experience you need to be eligible for permanent residence and if you recently worked as a home child care provider or support worker, your experience may count towards your eligibility for permanent residence.

You can only apply for permanent residence through the Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP) if you have at least 2 years of work experience in the program and you’re already working in Canada with an LCP work permit, or you were approved for your first LCP work permit based on a Labour Market Impact Assessment submitted to Employment and Social Development Canada on or before November 30, 2014.

Study and Work while studying for Caregivers, Midwives, Nurses or Early childhood educators

If you have work experience in Canada as a caregiver but don’t qualify for either of the options above, you may be eligible to immigrate to Canada through a different program which with our preferred DLI working as registered agent, we may get you admitted into social media, social worker programs and can get you off campus employment under study permit rule as a caregiver for families looking to hire experience aid workers.

Attention Self Employed Persons!

The Self-employed Persons Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person.

Selection is based on you work experience, your education with relevant credential assessment, age, your language abilities from one of the recognized tests and your adaptability

Immigrate through Family Class Sponsorship

To cater for the prosperity and happiness of Canadians and permanent residents, the Canadian Immigration law facilitated several streams that help families reunite on Canadian soil.

No countries in the world bring such a huge number of immigrants. Today’s world where in one hand developed countries have a pro-immigration and anti-immigration parties, Canada has all the national parties turned out to be pro-immigration. Canada is safe country also due to its geography which is mostly surrounded by Oceans and the Canadian Border Security Agency is very vigilant that doesn’t allow illegal entries. Multiculturalism has always been a greatest gift in Canadian constitution and people enjoy here their freedom. The neighborhoods are always safe and for you to come either as an international student or as a landed immigrant will find decent communities to live with.

If you qualify as a family member, you can be sponsored to come to Canada as a Permanent Resident through

Sponsorship of Immediate Family (spouses, partners and children)

In this stream, you are defined as a sponsor of an immediate family member by being a spouse, partner or a dependent child. To qualify as a sponsor, you should be: At least 18 years old. Either a Canadian or a permanent resident or a registered Indian. Not receiving any social assistance for reasons other than a disability. Demonstrate enough income to provide for the basic needs of the sponsored dependents. Sign an undertaking with which you will be financially responsible for: 3 years for your spouse or partner. 10 years for your children until they reach the age of 22 whichever comes first.

Let’s understand this better

You can sponsor your spouse, partner or dependent child if:

You’re at least 18 years old

You’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act

If you’re a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must show that you plan to live in Canada when the persons you want to sponsor become permanent residents.

• You can’t sponsor someone if you’re a permanent resident living outside Canada.

• You’re able to prove that you’re not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability, you can provide for the basic needs of any persons you want to sponsor

If you live outside Quebec

To become a sponsor, you must promise to financially take care of the persons you are sponsoring for a period. We call this promise an undertaking. The undertaking commits you to: providing financial support for your sponsored family members, starting when they become permanent residents, repaying any provincial social assistance your sponsored family members get during that time. Also, you and your sponsored family members need to agree to certain responsibilities during the undertaking period. We call this the sponsorship agreement.

The sponsorship agreement means that: you’ll provide for the basic needs of your sponsored family members. The person you sponsor will make every effort to support themselves and their family members. When we apply, you’ll have to complete and sign a form that includes the undertaking and the sponsorship agreement.

Income requirement: In most cases, there isn’t an income requirement to sponsor your spouse or partner or dependent child. You only need to show that you have enough money to meet the income requirements if:

• you’re sponsoring a dependent child that has 1 or more dependent children of their own, or

• you’re sponsoring a spouse or partner that has a dependent child, and their dependent child has 1 or more children of their own.

If your spouse is inside Canada under any temporary resident status, then we can also file your family sponsorship under in-class Canada application and he may be eligible to work too under a Open work permit while you waiting for the decision or outcome of your spousal family permanent residency application.

Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents

If you wish to sponsor your parents or grandparents, you should: Be at least 18 years old. Be a Canadian or a permanent resident or a registered Indian. Not receiving any social assistance for reasons other than a disability. Demonstrate enough income to provide for the basic needs of the sponsored dependents. Sign an undertaking for 20 years from the date your sponsored parent or grandparent becomes a permanent resident.

Sponsorship of other family members

You can sponsor other family members under certain conditions. Child adopted outside Canada. Child who will be adopted in Canada. Brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild who is

Orphaned, Under 18 years and. Not married or in a common-law relationship. Someone related to you if you do not have any other relatives that can be sponsored other relatives who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or registered Indians

Conditions to be able to sponsor other family members: Should be at least 18 years old. Should be either a Canadian, a permanent resident or a registered Indian. Should not be receiving any social assistance for reasons other than a disability. Should demonstrate enough income to provide for the basic needs of the sponsored dependents You will sign an undertaking for 10 years or until the age of 22 whichever comes first.
